Funding the work of MTCEA

We hope that in reading through our site you can see what great opportunities there are for us to further enhance the lives of the Ugandan Africa familycommunities.

MTCEA receives no regular income at all. Our work depends on grants and contributions from a variety of sources, from government departments around the world, right down to individuals who meet our needs. From thousands of dollars, right down to a few dollars. But there’s nothing regular. Our staff don’t receive any wage – it is all voluntary, leaving their families, like so many in this wonderful country, impoverished and at risk of all the pressures that can be thrown at it.

We would love your help, and so appreciate your spreading the word to those of your friends, family and colleagues who may be in a position to help.

It may mean a few dollars through our DONATE page right here, or a targeted provision of funds to support a specific project. Either way we would be grateful, so grateful. This is not charity – this is development support. WRITE TO US asking where you can help most.

An example of development support

Around 10 years ago a group of English farmers were sitting in a pub, discussing their fortunes. “What could we do to spread a little of our fortune?” they wondered. And so sprung a scheme called FOAG – Farmers’ Overseas Action Group. Over the years they provided sums of money – ten of thousands of dollars – to NGOs like MTCEA.

DSC00523In our case we used the money to provide small scale micro-financing to local farmers’ groups, so they could buy two oxen and a plough. Each “ploughing kit” cost just a few hundred dollars but changed so many lives. The “Animal Traction” project was born! More about this in the AGRICULTURE  page.

For the first time ever, farmers could now open up enough land to generate a small profit – enabling them not only to repay the initial loan but also to send their children to school (nothing is free in Uganda) and get the healthcare they needed. They just needed a “leg-up” – to start them off. A real success, yet there is a real need for more of this sort of kick start.
